Piazza San Francesco d’Assisi, located in Catania’s historic center, is dominated by the monumental Church of San Francesco d’Assisi all’Immacolata and the statue of Cardinal Dusmet, a beloved figure known for his social commitment. In front of the church stands Palazzo Gravina-Cruyllas, once the residence of Vincenzo Bellini, now home to the Bellini Museum and the Emilio Greco Museum. Beneath the church are underground passages that once connected old convents and were used as shelters during wartime. From Piazza San Francesco d’Assisi, one can access the monumental Via Crociferi.
